What type of patients do you care for?

This is an example of the type of cases we care for. This is not a complete list.

What types of insurance are you contracted with?

We accept all insurances including Medicaid, regardless of in or out of network status.

What types of services do you provide?

Skilled nursing home health services, including visits and extended hourly care. We also provide Home Health Aide (HHA) visits.

Do you provide DME Supplies?

We do not provide DME supplies; however, we work with our clients to get the supplies they need through a network of DME providers.

We live in the country, how far are you willing to travel?

Ultimate Nursing Services has offices located in West Des Moines, Newton, Sheldon, and Carroll, Iowa. UNSI covers 80% of the state of Iowa and can take cases by exception to include the entire state of Iowa. We go where the patient lives and hire our nurses on a case-specific basis.

Our sister company, Universal Pediatric Services, has offices located in Brooklyn Park, MN, Brookfield, WI, Sioux Falls, SD, and West Des Moines, IA, but services are not limited to those areas alone. We will bring care to where you live and we hire our nurses on a location- and case-specific basis.

What role does my primary physician play?

Any and all homecare services that would be provided to your child would need to be approved and ordered by your child's physician. He/She would be an intricate part in the planning and continuation of the home health services we would provide. He/She will be involved in every aspect of your child's care, as we would communicate with him/her continuously regarding the service we are providing or not providing, including but not limited to medications, treatments, therapies and staffing. Your physician will be signing all of the orders for nursing care for your child and we will provide him a Plan of Care with a summary every 60 days.

What level of technology and skill level can Ultimate Nursing Services provide?

We can provide services to meet basic personal needs, such as bathing and grooming, all the way up to trained RN services, such as administering IVs. The level of skill we provide depends on the needs of the client and is determined through an assessment by Ultimate Nursing Services and consultation with the patient's family and doctor.

How do I get started as a new client? What is the process like?

The first step would be for you (or your representative) to call the office in your service area so we can determine verbally what your needs are. We then take all your information, including insurance, physician and a release to gather past medical history. Once we receive the medical history, we can seek out the appropriate payer source for the services needed. This process can be lengthy and can take up to 6 weeks. After the client is approved for our services, we would hire case-specific staff. All staff that would be working in your home will be given individualized training. Once the staff is trained and in place, we will begin providing services. This time of getting started can come with many concerns and questions. We welcome and encourage any and all questions that may come up in this process.

Do you include the patient and his/her family in developing the plan of care?

Of course! The client and the client's family are always at the center of the plan of care. You will be an intricate part of determining the needs of the patient and helping develop the plan that will best work towards meeting those needs. Your input is always appreciated and encouraged.

Are there waiting lists?

There are times that there are waiting lists. We strive to give you the best home care experience possible. In order for your experience to be positive, we want to give you a realistic outlook on the time it will take for us to implement new services in your home. When circumstances require a change in our timeline, we will communicate with you regarding any changes. You are always welcome to call and inquire about the status of your case at any time.
